Voter Turnout

Government Of the People, By the People, For the People is dependent on the voices of the people, exercised through their right to vote. The Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution protect the right for every American to vote in election systems that are easy to understand and accessible to everyone.

Preserve Democracy is committed to protecting Americans’ right to vote by helping to increase voter turnout and participation.

We do this by running get-out-the-vote initiatives, helping to register people to vote, and removing barriers that disincentivize people from voting.

ALASKA VOTER TURNOUT PROJECT 2023

In November 2022, Alaska experienced record low voter turnout while the Lower 48 had high voter turnout. Preserve Democracy is strategically focused on determining why Alaskans stopped voting and increase voter participation.

To that end, Preserve Democracy has launched a GET-OUT-THE-VOTE project in March 2023 to support voter turnout in the Anchorage Assembly races. This election typically has low voter turnout, so it provides a great opportunity for seeing what works to increase voter participation.

We are partnering with a data analytics firm that has successfully run get-out-the-vote and political campaign efforts to mobilize voters.

The Assembly elections are finished the first week of April 2023. Time is short, and the stakes are high!
